MARYLAND — Victorian homes in the U.S. replicate the architectural markings of those built during the reign of Queen Victoria in Great Britain. Homes built in this style tend to be larger with upwards of three stories. They feature notable markings like towers, turrets, decorative woodwork, gingerbread trims, ornate embellishments, front porches and more.

Ceilings often are high in these homes and interior color schemes can be bold and bright. In fact, some architects describe Victorian-style homes as resembling doll houses.

In the U.S., there are several types of Victorian homes that include: Gothic Revival, Second Empire, Stick-Eastlake, Folk Victorian, Romanesque Revival, Shingle Style, Queen Anne Victorian and Italianate.

Below is a sampling of Victorian-style homes found on the market across Maryland.
