I have worked with realtors across the U.S. on multiple occasions. I can easily say that Meg and Alison are the best realtors I've worked with. I am aware of market trends where some say realtors' service can be disintermediated by web-based solutions. “Closing; 1 PM” That event came and went, a check was deposited in our bank account—and we woke up the following day with a huge sense of peace and the delightful feeling that our retirement had truly begun.
Behind those short words on the calendar lies a much longer story; the principal characters in that story are Meg Percecepe and Alison Shutt.
Over a year ago we asked a good friend, Michael O’Halloran, to visit our home (where he had played as a boy!) and to help us decide its relative worth. Michael’s experience as a property assessor as well as his knowledge of the area gave us confidence that he would be able to help us begin the daunting process of selling our home. Michael agreed with us that the property at 14820 Kelley Farm Drive, with a 250-year-old house, aging pool, rental house, large work shop, barn and pastures, was not going to be easy to sell. It simply isn’t every home buyer’s “cup of tea.” He suggested a price range that would be reasonable in the current market and then immediately suggested that we ask Washington Fine Properties to represent us. He was very clear that we should ask Meg Percecepe and Alison Shutt to handle the sale. He knew of their success in the sale of a home on Esworthy Road which was somewhat comparable as well as knowing their reputation from many previous sales.
Soon enough we met with Alison and Meg and began the very successful adventure of marketing and selling our home of 21 years. We owe the fact that our home sold after only seven short months on the market, exactly at our asking price, to these two amazing Realtors. We recently closed on an investment property in Silver Spring, and they were there to guide us through the complete process from the very beginning. They gave us the insight to choose the best location, the experience to find the optimal building, and the abilities to complete the process and allow us to close quickly and with minimal issues. They are an invaluable resource for all things real estate. We have become reliant on their sage advice to get things done and done correctly.
Our relationship with Alison and Meg began when we moved to Maryland from New Jersey and started looking for homes in the area. We were assigned a real estate agent through the relocation company that handled our move. Although this was not Alison or Meg, we met them as they represented the owners of a home we had interest in. Ultimately, we chose to purchase another home in the neighborhood (through no fault of Alison or Meg) but kept in contact with them due to their clear expertise of homes in our community. This was demonstrated by their ability to stage homes to look “perfect” for showings. They know their buyers, and this translates to that “perfect “ setup.” As we started popping in on their listings, sometimes just to say hello, we noticed something in the potential buyers viewing their listings — they were all enamored of the way the homes looked. This seems to explain the multiple offers for most of their listings. That appeal doesn’t come easily as we learned. It comes from careful planning and execution. From landscaping to appliances, they leave no stone unturned, and that translates to offers. We realized that should the need arise, we would definitely want them to represent us and to help us in any real estate needs we had.
That need came when we decided to invest in real estate to improve our cash flow for the impending arrival of our son and the need to offset the loss of some of my wife’s income. Ultimately the search led us to recently closing on a condominium in Silver Spring. Everything about the condominium was what we expected. We are hoping to finalize a lease very soon and we certainly owe the minimal amount of hassle and headache to Alison and Meg.
To say that we appreciate Alison and Meg is certainly an understatement. We trust them. We value their knowledge. We understand their analysis of the situation because of their ability to convey it to us concisely and clearly. In the fall of 2013, my husband and I found a house that we wanted to purchase in Annapolis, MD. The contract had a contingency that we needed to have our house on the market within 7 days! My wife and I sold our house of 26 years. We did not think the process would be difficult; put it on the market, someone buys it, and we close.
But the closing process included what seemed to be endless excuses and delays by the lender. We had eight months invested in this sale and the idea we would have to start over was beginning to seem most likely. Numerous disconnected parties, managing an overflow of business, resulted in many contract extensions. The process seemed out of control.
Meg Percesepe and Alison Shutt made it their mission to get our deal closed. Both of these professionals took the extra time and effort to deal with all the outstanding issues while providing
