PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Nelson graduated Magna cum Laude from Barry University and has held competitive sales and business development positions, both internationally and in the U.S. Wanting to contribute more directly to communities in need, he transitioned into the non-profit sector. He involved himself with various fundraising initiatives and organizations spanning community building, volunteerism, and general critical causes, and played a role in achieving record-breaking results in the special events arena for the United Way of Greater Miami-Dade County. In 2001, he was recruited to the University of Maryland's A. James Clark School of Engineering, College Park. As Acting Assistant Dean of External Relations, he participated in securing multi-million-dollar charitable gifts and collaborated with a team that secured the highest charitable gift to date in the history of the campus.
The Metropolitan DC area's exciting real estate market lured him to return to a career in real estate (he was formerly licensed in Florida), and he is an active licensee in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. He is a Top Producer and specializes in NW Washington neighborhoods and Capitol Hill, along with close-in Maryland and Virginia neighborhoods.
Nelson and his partner, Daniell, live in Dupont Circle, and are involved with and support human rights and animal care causes. They share their lives with their Jack Russell/Fox Terrier called Rugby.
