James K. Thompson has worked in residential real estate throughout Virginia including Fauquier, Loudoun Clarke and Rappahannock Counties for over sixteen years. In 2002, Mr. Thompson joined Armfield Miller Ripley Fine Properties (AMRFP), based in Middleburg, Virginia, after partnering with Middleburg Real Estate for several years prior. Today, subsequent to Washington Fine Properties (WFP) acquisition of AMRFP in 2007, Thompson serves as a Senior Associate at the WFP Middleburg bureau.
While Thompson specializes in marketing and representing buyers of middle-to-upper bracket price properties, he is equally committed to vigorous marketing and buyer representation for properties in all price ranges. Thompson was one of the listing agents for Fleetwood Farm (listed at $21,500,000, the biggest listing for any residential property in the history of Fauquier County, Virginia at the time.
Although Thompson maintains numerous listings in the high-end market, he also handles mid-range listings of $250,000+. Thompson’s motto is about the "the deal," not the amount that’s pertinent.
"Whether it's securing a client’s asking price for a house/property or negotiating the best possible deal for a buyer, my satisfaction in any price range comes from seeing the entire process through -- from the first meeting to final negotiations and providing for a happy client.”
Thompson’s ‘edge’ comes from his ever-vigilant knowledge of the latest market trends, technologies, fluctuations, and conditions in order to ensure that his buyers and sellers have the most up-to-date information regarding their local marketplace. His knowledge of “Hunt Country” is further enhanced by owning and managing a farm in between Middleburg and The Plains.
Prior to entering the residential real estate industry, Thompson represented some of the nation’s leading Fortune 500 companies in public affairs, lobbying, and grassroots campaigns.
